were designed to attain two objects: first, to determine the nature of the nervous mechanism which governs the bronchi, a knowledge of which is obviously essential to a proper conception of the pathology of such disorders as affect these structures ; and, second, to attain to some precise knowledge of the influences which may be exerted by various drugs upon that mechanism.
